| Dec 10, 2015

AMES, IA - Renewable Energy Group, Inc. (NASDAQ:REGI) announced the promotion of Natalie Merrill to the newly-created position of Chief of Staff and Vice President.

Merrill most recently served as REG’s Executive Director, Corporate Finance and Investment Banking and Corporate Secretary.  She will retain those roles while also overseeing the Company’s Operations Control Team and operations center. Her responsibilities will also include coordination of cross-functional and cross-business activities, continuous improvement across departments and businesses, and representing REG leadership in many activities and efforts.

“This position has been created in recognition of REG’s growth, complexity and increasing diversification across products, technologies and geographies,” said REG President and Chief Executive Officer Daniel J. Oh.  “Natalie’s expansive knowledge of our company functions and expertise gained as she has grown with us make her the right fit to help lead REG in an expanded role to continue our growth and success.”

Merrill joined REG in 2007 as a Senior Financial Analyst and also served as Manager and Senior Manager in Corporate Finance and Investment Banking as well as company Treasurer before taking her most recent role in 2012.  She previously held positions with Deloitte Consulting, LLP and Deloitte and Touche, LLP.  A licensed CPA, Merrill holds a MBA from Washington University’s Olin School of Business as well as a Master of Accountancy and BS in Accounting from Truman State University.

Merrill serves as a member of the Iowa Capital Investment Board.  She is a former Ames Chamber of Commerce board member and a participant in the Leadership Iowa and the Greater Des Moines Leadership programs.  Natalie and her husband, Jeremy, reside in Des Moines.
